Bill LaBounty is a singer/songwriter who has written several songs recorded by Sawyer Brown. His first recording work was "Country Morning / Hello Misery" as the member of the band Fat Chance in 1972. Then, his first solo album Promised Love was released in 1975 from 20th Century Records, but no big success. It is interesting that "This Night Won't Last Forever" was released as the last single records under 20th Century Records before being released his second album This Night Won't Last Forever in 1978 under Curb Records. The title track "This Night Won't Last Forever" was just ranked # 65 on Billboard Pop Chart for 2 weeks, but Michael Johnson's cover version ranked #19 in 1979.

Bill released two more albums, Rain In My Life in 1979 and Bill LaBounty in 1982 under Curb Records. The highest chart position of the track "Never Gonna Look Back" from the album Bill LaBounty was #110 on Billboard Pop Chart (#22 on Adult Contemporary Chart). The unsuccessful result in the industry made him move behind the scenes, and thus Bill has become primarily a songwriter since 1983.

Bill restarted as a singer by releasing the album The Right Direction for Japanese AOR/Westcoast market in 1991, and afterwards this album was released also in the United States under Noteworthy Records with 2 bonus tracks which are live recording tracks in Japan.

Best Known for his extraordinary song writing talents, LaBounty has delivered the hit songs "Hot Rod Hearts" for Robbie Dupree, and "She Loves My Car" for Ronnie Milsap. His work has also been used by Peter Cetera, Brenda Russell, Patti LaBelle, Bobby Caldwell, Don Johnson, The Temptations, Jimmy Buffet, Bill Medley, and Three Dog Night. Also an accomplished keyboardist and synthesist, LaBounty has worked in the studio with such artists as James Taylor, Jennifer Warnes and Patty LaBelle. Currently he and his wife, Beckie Foster, have co-written a string of hits for country artists like Sawyer Brown, Steve Wariner, The Judds, and Highway 101.
